Chatham Opera and Chatham Players have joined forces to produce Menotti's holiday
opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors" with full orchestra. With its wonderfully
uplifting story as well as its beautiful music, this production was written with
children and families in mind, making it a superb introduction into the world
of opera.
In 1951, Gian Carlo Menotti wrote the Christmas one-act opera "Amahl and
the Night Visitors." It was first performed on Christmas Eve, 1951, in New
York City, at the NBC studios, where it was broadcast on television. Chatham Opera
and Chatham Players bring this story of a poor disabled boy and his encounter
with the three kings to life. This popular family Christmas classic is full of
humor, wonder, and drama, and the music is tuneful and charming.
Don't miss this holiday event for all ages.
